Another Week in Paradise

This week Elsie has been recovering from her sickness.  Monday she was really struggling so I broke down and took her to the doctor.  She somehow made it through the visit without coughing and after a second Covid test (negative again) the doctor pronounced she had a cold and sent me home without any real help for making it through the coughing filled nights.  When we left the doctor I asked Elsie how she had made it through the whole visit without coughing.  She said we had been holding it in.  I asked her why she was holding it in and she said "because I didn't want to get the doctor sick".  It was very thoughtful, despite not being quite what I would want at a doctor's appointment.  Anyway, she had to miss preschool all week, but has slowly returned to health.  Friday, she was feeling well enough that she ran some errands with me and even asked me to paint her nails.

Carrigan has had a busy week with Girls on the Run, sewing, and her last volleyball camp.  She also has a playdate, a girls' night and started working on her Science Fair project with her friend Kinley.  They are doing a project called "Die by Dye" where they are soaking roses in water dyed with various colors of dye to see which rose color dies first and which lives the longest.  She will be working on it for the next several weeks and then the Science Fair is at the end of May.

Merrick had a week full of practices and a tournament this weekend.  The big news from this weekend's tournament is that Merrick pitched the entirety of the second game.  That has never happened before.  Actually the other team's pitcher pitched the entire game too.  It was a true pitchers' duel.  I may be biased but I think Merrick was better, he was certainly more accurate.  He had one rougher inning where he let in 3 runs but his other 4 innings were pretty much flawless.  He had 12 strikeouts over the game.  Unfortunately, his team left their bats at home while the other pitcher was good, he wasn't as good as they made him look and they ended up losing 3-2.

It was another good week that flew by.  Everyone is feeling better now so I am hopeful for a good week ahead.
