Let's Play Ball (Family Style)

A few weeks back Merrick's baseball season started up again.  Now that he is in 3rd grade, the games are kid pitch.  It is a little brutal if I am being honest.  You live and die by your pitcher, and there are so many walks that I think Merrick may be forgetting how to bat.  It is a good thing there is a 5 run rule each inning.

While Merrick hasn't really been able to practice his batting, he is developing new pitching skills.  He is one of several kids on the team who takes a turn on the pitcher's mound.  Right now his pitch is a little erratic.  His strikes are dangerous, but not as consistent as we would like.  Jeremy has been working with him on a new delivery that will hopefully help.

This year Carrigan is also getting in on the action with her first year of t-ball (softball).  Her team is the Rainbow Mermaids and what they lack in skill they make up for in cuteness.  They have all mastered "ready position".  Now they just need to learn what to do once the ball is hit. Hahaha!

Elsie is not playing just yet, but she is there for every game and every practice.  Usually she is just there for the food.  If I forget it then she will beg, borrow, and scrounge it from other people.  She does love a bat and ball though if she can get her hands on it.

Speaking of food, this has nothing to do with baseball, but Elsie really does love her food.  This week we let her feed herself her pasta.  She was one happy girl.  I was a less happy girl when I had to clean up the aftermath.

Easter 2019

Today is Easter and all I can say is, Whew!!!  Does time ever slow down?  I feel like all I ever do is run from one thing to the next all day everyday and this Easter weekend was no different.

Saturday was a jam-packed day.  It started early with a good deep cleaning of the house for our open house later in the day (insert eye roll here).  About 9:30 Jeremy took the big kids to our first Easter egg hunt of the day at the high school while I finished cleaning and put Elsie down for a nap.  After the hunt/nap it was straight to Merrick's baseball game. Then it was straight to a birthday party for Carrigan's friend.  After the party it was straight to our second Easter egg hunt/charity event.  We didn't get home until almost bedtime and still had to squeeze in dinner and baths.  See what I mean?  Running from one thing to the next.

Today things moved a little slower.  We started the morning (super early) with Easter baskets before early morning church.  Church was amazing.  The kids sang a beautiful song with the primary all about Jesus being a God of miracles and his greatest miracle being the miracle that rescues all of us.  It is such a simple and yet profound message and has really touched my heart as the kids have practiced it over the last few months.  After church we went to my parents' house for lunch/dinner and our third and final Easter egg hunt.

Even though it was a whirlwind weekend I am not sure what I would change.  I love all my little bunnies and our sometimes too crazy life.

We're Selling the House

AHHHH!!!! Things have been so crazy around here!  So crazy that it wasn't until like Tuesday of last week that I realized that I hadn't even done the blog last week.  Oh well, I guess better late than never.  The biggest contributor to the craziness is that on Friday our house went on the market!  Oh man, it has been a wild ride already.  It is unbelievably hard to keep a house in pristine condition while still living in said house with three small children.  I feel like all I do all day is tell my kids not to do things and to clean things up.  I am afraid that by the end of this they will be ready to trade me in for a new mom.  Aside from the inevitable messes that we try to clean up right away, things are looking pretty nice around here.  I realized that we never really did "before" and "after" photos with all the work we have done on the house but let's just go ahead and count these as the "after" photos.

Wish us luck on a quick sell because the excitement from this photo quickly wore off and I don't know how long I can live like this.

Oh if that wasn't enough to deal with, just to put the cherry on the stress sundae, Jeremy is being sued.  Fun times around here.
