Valentine's Day 2017 and Bobcat

This week while we wait, wait, wait for baby girl's arrival, we celebrated Valentine's Day.  I was really worried that I might be in the hospital for Valentine's Day and not get to celebrate with the kids the way they are accustomed to.  Fortunately (I guess) that didn't happen and we had a great V-Day.

The first surprise of the day was to wake up to beautiful flowers from Jeremy.  We weren't supposed to be doing anything for each other this year so this was a big surprise. He is always so thoughtful and even bought some flowers for Carrigan so she wouldn't feel left out.

Traditionally, we have heart shaped pizza for dinner, but we had just had pizza a few days earlier so I decided to mix thing up this year.  Instead of pizza we went for pink, sourdough waffles with whipped cream and strawberries.  It was a yummy change.

We also celebrated the day with our traditional love hunt.  As usual, the kids hunted for clues around the house, found treats and notes about what we love about them and ultimately found presents.  This year Carrigan got a basket and streamers for her bike and Merrick got a boomerang.

The other highlight of the week, that I thankfully didn't have to miss, was Merrick's cub scout troop's Blue and Gold Banquet where Merrick earned his Bobcat award.  He worked hard for it and really wanted to make sure I was there so he could pin on my mother's pin.  I made it, he got to pin my pin, and he even got turned upside down to remind him to do a good turn daily.

It was a good week and now we just wait to see if this week will bring baby girl.  I am not being very patient.

Quality Time

We are in the home stretch of baby girl's arrival.  I am just over 38 week so it could be any time (although given my track record the smart money would be on it being later rather than sooner).  Anyway, my favorite part of this week has been getting to spend some one on one quality time with each member of my sweet family on these last few days of us beign a family of four.

Carrigan and I often get to spend one on one time, but this week I really enjoyed spending time together prepping for baby sister.  She helped me put the finishing touches on their room and load the diaper caddy and diaper bag.  She is so excited to be a big sister and getting to be with her while checking off things on the "to do" list was a huge win/win.

One on one time with Merrick is much more rare so I was really excited to get some of that this week too.  On Friday afternoon Carrigan had a play date with a friend so it was just Merrick and I for a while.  This time I put the "to do" list on hold and told him we could do anything he wanted.  We chose to play The Game of Life and he beat me soundly.  My only regret is that we were so busy playing that I didn't get a picture.

Last but certainly not least, this week I also got some time with my main squeeze.  My parents generously offered to take the kids on Friday night so we could have an early Valentine's Day date and we had a great night.  I picked Jeremy up from the train and we went to dinner.  After that we did a little bit of shopping for some last minute baby things.  We ended the night with a movie.  Jeremy had gotten movie passes to Cinetopia for his birthday and it was a bit of a hassle using them but in the end it was totally worth it when we got to watch our movie in out reclining leather seats with ottaman foot rests.  This is definitly the way to see a movie in the theather.

So there you have it, a great week with special time with each one of my three loves before I meet my fourth love.  It feels like Valentine's Day already.

Prep Part 2 and Celebrate

This week was a mix of continued baby prep and celebrating her future arrival.  After last weekend's blowing off all responsibilities, mid week I started to get a little panicky about about my lack of preparedness for baby girl's arrival.  I decided to sit down and make a "to do" list to start working on.  Thankfully I shared my panic with my mom and she was over the very next day to help me get started.  In one day we worked on drywall repair, hung the pictures that I haven't gotten around to in the almost year and a half we have lived here and finished organizing in Merrick's room.  By the end of the day I was done in, but it was worth it to ease some of the panic.

After a day or two of recovery I was up for some celebrating of baby girl.  On Friday night some of my girlfriends and I headed out for a girl's night.  Since this is my third baby, I really didn't want to have a baby shower per se but did want a chance to get out and celebrate.  Our girl's night was just the thing.  We had a pretty good turn out and it was so fun to be able to eat yummy food and just be able to sit and chat.

Now I am ready to knock out the rest of the "to do" list.  Yesterday we got baby girl's new dresser and started washing up all the newborn clothes.  I have to tell you that is was really fun to open the dryer this morning and see a sea of tiny pink clothes.  It will just be a couple of weeks now until we have a tiny little girl to put in those tiny pink clothes.  It is getting exciting!
