This week was fairly uneventful. I feel like for the most part we are just biding our time until baby girl arrives, which is not great because there is still much to be done, but it is what it is. Merrick is probably the only one of us that had something he was anxiously awaiting this week, a class field trip to the musical Pete the Cat on Friday, which he reported did not disappoint.
The other bright spot of the week were our family adventures yesterday. The kids have been really bad lately about not wanting to do any kind of work, projects, or cleaning on the weekends. They have somehow decided that Saturdays are their day for fun and nothing else. I should be better about getting them to do some work, but honestly I haven't been too motivated either. So yesterday, instead of starting the day with chores, we started the day with cousin fun time. We met at the church building and Jeremy and Merrick played basketball with Quincy and Colvin (Ben and Lincoln were at Lincoln's first ever soccer game) while Becca held ballet class for Carrigan and Isabel. There is a story behind that that involved us missing our chance to sign the girls up for ballet and Isabel being so disappointed that Becca decided she knew enough about ballet to teach an intro class for two 3 and 4-year-old girls. Anyway, the girls had a blast and I don't think felt cheated in the least by the arrangement.
Later in the afternoon we headed out to run an errand. Carrigan wanted training wheels for her "new" bike, Merrick needed an SD card for his GoPro he got for Christmas, and we are on the hunt for a very specific gift for baby sister. For the most part the outing was kind of a bust as we didn't find the gift we were looking for and decided to buy everything online, but I don't think anyone was too disappointed. We ended up being right buy Dave and Buster's and thanks to some free promo offers we had, spent a couple of hours having some free family fun. All that was left was to round out the night with some pizza for a great family Saturday.
One of these days we need to get serious about getting ready for baby girl. I guess that day was just not this weekend.
