Well, I'm here with some pretty terrible news. Yesterday, Elsie broke her arm...again. The good news is that it's her left arm this time and it was not displaced, so it looks like no surgery. The bad news is that we leave on a cruise in a week and this will definitely effect those plans. Going on a cruise to Mexico and not being able to go in the water is a serious bummer.
It all went down yesterday evening. We had spent the entire day helping my parents move and came home to get cleaned up and and go to dinner with my siblings and parents. Elsie had gone to a birthday party for a friend at a trampoline park. About an hour into the party, I got a call from the mom of the birthday girl. Elsie hurt her arm. I was trying to judge, not being there, how hurt she was. Apparently, she was doing the zip line and it jerked to a stop at the end. She started crying and fell to the ground and rolled onto her shoulder.
Jeremy and I decided to head out there and pick her up. We headed straight to the children's hospital. We haven't been there in a few months so I guess it was time. It was not a quick visit. We arrived just before 7pm and left just before 11pm. They were able to confirm that she did have a humerus fracture but because it is so high (basically in her shoulder), they are unable to cast. Instead she is in a shoulder immobilizer. It's removeable, but she is supposed to wear it 24/7.
This week we will follow up with the orthopedist and find out the plan for moving forward. We are praying that our cruise won't be too impacted and that her time in the brace will be short lived and she will still be able to participate in the upcoming softball season. She is really looking forward to that.
